Academic Suspension Appeal Process

A student placed on academic suspension may petition the Vice President for Academic Affairs for an early return to Lincoln College-Normal. The petition is a written statement from the student explaining the basis for the petition. The petition should include an explanation of why the suspension occurred and a specific plan and steps that will be taken to improve academic performance.  If the petition is approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the student will be permitted to return to Lincoln College on Academic Probation and carry a course load of no more than fifteen semester hours.

Conditions of re-enrollment will also include specific attendance requirements and use of academic support services to assist the student in returning to Good Academic Standing. A student permitted to re-enroll through petition must earn an institutional grade point average of 2.00 in that semester in order to continue enrollment the next semester. A student who does not earn an a term grade point average of 2.00 that semester will be dismissed from Lincoln College for one calendar year. Students may be granted an early return from dismissal by petition only one time.

ABE Academic Suspension Appeal Process

An ABE student placed on academic suspension may petition the Vice President for Academic Affairs for an early return to Lincoln College-Normal. The petition is a written statement from the student explaining the basis for the petition. The petition should include an explanation of why the suspension occurred and a specific plan and steps that will be taken to improve academic performance.  If the petition is approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the student will be permitted to return to Lincoln College on Academic Probation and carry a course load of no more than nine (9) semester hours and no more than four (4) credit hours in any ABE session/sub-term. Conditions of re-enrollment will also include specific attendance requirements and use of academic support services to assist the student in returning to Good Academic Standing.

An ABE student permitted to re-enroll through petition must earn a term grade point average of 2.00 in that semester in order to continue enrollment the following semester. A student who does not earn term grade point average of 2.00 that semester will be suspended from Lincoln College for one calendar year. Students may be granted an early return from suspension by petition only one time.

Midwest College of Cosmetology Academic Dismissal Appeal Process

An MCC student dismissed from the College for academic reasons indicated above may petition the Vice President for Academic Affairs for a return to the Midwest College of Cosmetology. The petition is a written statement from the student explaining the basis for the petition. The petition should include an explanation of why the dismissal occurred and a specific plan and steps that will be taken to improve academic performance.  If the petition is approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the student will be permitted to return to Midwest College of Cosmetology on Probationary Warning. Conditions of re-enrollment will also include specific attendance requirements and use of academic support services to assist the student in returning to Good Academic Standing.

An MCC student permitted to re-enroll through petition must earn a cumulative grade percentage of 82% and 90% of scheduled attendance in order to remain enrolled the following semester. A student who does not earn a cumulative grade percentage of 82% and 90% attendance of scheduled hours will be dismissed permanently from the College. Additionally, students who re-enroll and are given two (2) consecutive negative monthly satisfactory progress evaluations by their instructor may be dismissed from the College prior to the end of the semester. Students may be granted re-enrollment through petition only one time.
